Critics Choice Awards: ‘Wicked' & ‘Conclave' Lead With 11 Noms Each

December 12, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced the first round of nominees for the film categories for the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards with “Conclave” and “Wicked” leading the way with 11 nominations each. “Dune: Part II,” and “Emilia Perez” had 10. “The Brutalist” racked up 9 noms.

This is a deeply unserious organization. Nominating 8 directors?! Much like the Golden Globes, the CCA just wants stars to show up to the ceremony, and so they’ve decided to stack up every category with as many nominees as possible.

A much-welcome surprise is Hugh Grant being nominated for his playful performance in “Heretic.” Given how stacked every category was, there weren’t that many snubs except for “A Real Pain” which missed Best Picture. Also, how does Nicole Kidman (“Babygirl”) miss Best Actress? It’s one of the best performances of the entire year!
