Kyle Edward Ball, the writer-director behind 2023’s micro-budget “Skinamarink,” has been promoted to A24 for his next film, “The Land of Nod” (via Variety).
Plot and casting details are being kept under wraps. Ball will write and direct the film, which is set for worldwide theatrical release via A24. I presume this one will shoot next year.
Ball’s debut, “Skinamarink,” had a budget of only $15,000 and ended up pulling in more than $2M at the box office. The film followed two children alone in a house who are haunted by an unseen malevolence. I shamefully haven’t seen it yet.
Netflix and Skydance Animation have also called it quits. The two sides announced Monday that they're ending the animated film deal struck back in 2023, framing it as a mutual decision.
