Luca Guadagnino and Bret Easton Ellis’ ‘The Shards’ Eyeing Jacob Elordi for Role

September 8, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

It looks as though when Jacob Elordi and Luca Guadagnino were spotted having lunch in Venice recently, it was to discuss a potential role in Guadagnino’s adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel “The Shards.” Guadagnino is said to have also had dinner with The 1975 and Charli XCX.

Elordi is know for his role in “Euphoria” and Netflix’s “The Kissing Booth” trilogy. He can next be seen this fall in fest titles “Saltburn” and “Priscilla.”

I had mentioned in July that “The Shards,” would be adapted into an HBO series with Guadagnino directing some, if not all, of the episodes. The book is a fictionalized memoir of Ellis' final year of high school in 1981 in Los Angeles

Guadagnino already collaborated with HBO on the miniseries "We Are Who We Are". The idea is for “The Shards” to have three seasons of ten episodes each and Ellis will be writing them all. The author mentioned that there would be subplots that weren’t in his novel.
