Lebanon’s culture minister has banned Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” from the country’s movie theaters, saying it “promoted homosexuality” and contradicted religious values.
Mortada’s statement says the film was found to “promote homosexuality and sexual transformation” and “contradicts values of faith and morality” by diminishing the importance of the family unit.
What's insane about this ban is that there isn’t any gay content in the film. They're banning the movie just because it's a strong feminist statement, that’s the real reason why. Margot Robbie even told LGBTQ magazine Attitude last month that the dolls don’t “actually have sexual orientations” in the movie.
