Huh? Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Megalopolis’ Granted SAG Waiver

August 31, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

What exactly is Francis Ford Coppola cooking up? His upcoming “Megalopolis, rumored to premiere at Cannes 2024, is the latest film to land an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA.

The film finished production earlier this year so it’s kind of strange that he would need any kind of agreement to be used. Deadline’s as dumbfounded as I am, adding ..

Maybe Coppola needed a waiver one in order to be sold on one of the markets or potentially screen an upcoming festival and in need of one for publicity.

I don’t think Coppola would pass up the chance of World Premiering “Megalopolis” at Cannes. I bet he’s trying to now shop it around, but does he even need a SAG waiver to do that? Reshoots are another possibility …

Whatever the case may be, “Megalopolis” wrapped production in March and is being edited, or was just a few weeks ago when Spike Lee posted that Coppola had shown him 30 minutes of the film. I’ll update this post if any other details pop up.
