Larry Charles’ Upcoming A24 Film Re-Titled ‘Dicks: The Musical’ — Updated With Trailer

August 3, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: As I had mentioned earlier, the film is now officially set to open the TIFF Midnight Madness sidebar. A24 has also released a trailer.

EARLIER: A24 has a stacked slate of films ready to go for the fall, one of the more low-key ones is a musical directed by “Borat” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” filmmaker Larry Charles.

It was originally called “F*cking Identical Twins” but has now been re-titled “Dicks: The Musical.” Rumors are pointing towards a world premiere in the TIFF Midnight Madness sidebar, which will be announced tonight.

"Dicks: The Musical" has also been Rated R for strong crude sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language and brief drug use. So, there’s no shortage of crude humor in this one.

Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp write and star in the film, a “Parent Trap” riff about a pair of business rivals who discover that they're identical twins and decide to swap places in an attempt to trick their divorced parents to get back together.

The film is based on a two-man show from Upright Citizens Brigade in 2014. Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, Bowen Yang, and Megan Thee Stallion are also part of the cast.

It’s a rather strange project from A24, but one that will likely get some notices due to its eccentric cast, director and title. Here’s hoping it turns out to be a fun time at the movies.
