I’m not that surprised by some of the test reactions “Bob Marley: One Love” received on Thursday. It’s said to be a cookie cutter biopic with a strong lead performance (Kingsley Ben-Adir). That seems to be the consensus, that’s it utterly conventional. The trailer made it look that way. What we have here is the kind of token bland Oscar bait biopic that keeps being released every year. It failed miserably last December with “Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and it might fail again with this one. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, “Bob Marley: One Love” will be released in theaters on January 12, 2024.
As expected, Snyder's latest is being torn apart by TIFF attendees. No mercy given. The film, which had its world premiere this evening, is being called by some one of the worst movies to ever premiere at the festival.
