UPDATED: I can report that “Drive-Away Dolls” has been moved to February 23rd, 2024. Ouch.
EARLIER: I’m hearing that Ethan Coen’s “Drive-Away Dolls,” which was indeed submitted for fall festivals, is delaying its September 22nd release. No new date has been chosen yet by Focus.
The September calendar is being wiped clean. We’ve already had “Challengers” and “Poor Things” getting delayed, now it’s “Drive-Away Dolls.” Will “A Haunting in Venice” be next?
A week ago, Coen’s film was test-screened to semi-positive audience response. I’m hearing it’s nothing special, but is a decently enjoyable lesbian road movie that features a lot of sex and nudity.
Paul Greengrass’ "The Uprising," starring Andrew Garfield, opened to $3.2M from 2,068 theaters this weekend. Yikes. The budget hasn’t been disclosed, but is said to be in the $20-$30M range.
