‘Twin Peaks’ Creator is Not Helping Tame Down the Latest David Lynch Rumors

June 24, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Ever since I posted about David Lynch being spotted filming something in West Hollywood, I’ve received, at least, 50 emails about it.

I quite honestly have no idea what’s going on. There are many Lynch fans who swear that it must be the much-rumored “Wisteria” with ‘Twin Peaks’ co-creator Mark Frost.

This afternoon, Frost only fueled rumors further when he randomly retweeted a photo of, wait for it, a Wisteria tree. What a troll. Yeah, I know, I could be stretching it here, but what are the odds?

Wisterias are dreamy purple-drenched tree-looking vines that are actually pretty poisonous, containing a saponin called wisterin, which is toxic. Okay, now that we’ve wrapped up this Viticulture lesson, back to cinema …

Back in February of 2020, there was a person on Reddit who had posted details about a supposed new Lynch project, which was said to shoot in late spring, right before the pandemic hit, under the working title of “Wisteria.”

The rumor had Netflix greenlighting thirteen hour-long episodes and a budget of $85 million. That is until we later learned that Netflix dropped out of the project.

Last September, In an interview with NME, Laura Dern stated that the rumor of Lynch having a project at Cannes 2022 came from a place of “partial truth.”

People were so excited. I literally got a hundred texts. He’s always cooking. The rumour has partial truth.

That was the closest and most concrete hint we had gotten about Lynch working on something new, everything else seems to be shrouded in secrecy. For all I know, this could just be a TV series, a short film or even just a commercial.
