Obviously, just a rumor and I’m trying to corroborate it with a few sources, but for now here’s the post from the Paul Thomas Anderson subreddit:
Because I saw this speculated about in a tweet shared here a few days ago…I have also heard rumors that the new PTA has recently started production in Mexico. I can’t share concrete sources so take this with a grain of salt, but a friend of mine with major industry ties says that his friends crewing on the new Twister film (shooting in OK) have casually mentioned Paul shooting his new film in Mexico.
I was under the impression that the film had been delayed due to writers strike, unless PTA is so confident about the script that he has here that he’s willing not to make any changes to it during production.
Oh, and Pynchon’s “Vineland” has scenes set in Mexico. Take these rumors for whatever they’re worth, but I’ll update this post accordingly if any of my sources can confirm this.
