Puck’s Matt Belloni has a few box-office projections for us. We’ve covered most of these, but not the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence starring “No Hard Feelings.”
The raunchy comedy is currently set to open with a very light $10 million opening. I’ve been looking around at what the budget might be for this film, but the only, tenuous, number I could find was $70 million.
Regardless, $10 million is very low for a film with a star like J-Law. She’s clearly not the draw that she once was. Yes, it’s Rated R, but recent R-rated comedies like “Good Boys” and “Blockers” opened with $20+ million.
Comedies need good word of mouth to get some legs at the box-office. “No Hard Feelings” is still under embargo and will only be screened for a majority of critics next Wednesday. Two days later, the film opens.
Criterion's December lineup has some great additions to the library, but the title that jumped out at me is Werner Herzog's "Grizzly Man," which officially joins the Collection on December 8.
