David Zaslav: James Gunn is “On A Mission From God” to Reboot DCEU

May 6, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

David Zaslav has really outdone himself this time. He’s known for making over the top statements but this one might take the cake.

Here’s Zaslav praising James Gunn and talking about the upcoming “Superman: Legacy”

“The first draft of the Superman script is done. [James] Gunn is on a mission from God. It’s a really good time to prove with DC what we have and how strong we are globally for long-term growth.”

I didn’t know Gunn was a Blues Brother. He might also be the second coming of Jesus Christ. Hyperbole much?

Zaslav needs to stop talking. His words means absolutely nothing. Do we also actually believe that, in his words, he was an emotional wreck watching “The Flash”? Maybe he cried about the boatloads of money he was about to make with that movie.

Warner Bros is coming off two of the worst years of its 100-year history. Zaslav says he wants to “rebuild” historic WB “to its former glory.” Who better than to hire Jesus himself to gain back that glory.

Gunn is known for the three “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies he’s directed. He went on to helm “The Suicide Squad” for the DCEU in 2021 before being hired to Co-Chair creative operations of DC Studios.

It’ll be a while before we watch “Superman Legacy” on the big screen, it won’t be released in theaters until July 11, 2025.
