Eric Roth Not Credited as Writer on ‘Dune: Part Two’

May 5, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

I expected “Dune” screenwriter Eric Roth to have also penned the second chapter. However, his name doesn’t appear in the trailer’s credits. It seems he’s not returning for the final chapter.

Denis Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts are credited as the screenwriters this time around. Does it make a difference to me? Not really. Just saying. Roth is one of the great writers of the industry, he even penned Scorsese’s upcoming “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

Roth admitted last year that he wasn’t a fan of the novel “Dune,” adding that it was “a little too populist” for his tastes and that he wasn’t a “fanboy”. That didn’t stop Villeneuve from hiring him on the first film.

Meanwhile, Spaihts wrote the first “Dune” with Roth/Villeneuve. Before that, he had written “Doctor Strange,” “Passengers,” “The Darkest Hour” and “Prometheus.”
