Last month, Disney decided to drop Jeff Nichols’ “The Bikeriders,” and Focus Features quickly picked it up for distribution soon after.
The film premiered at this past September’s Telluride Film Festival, to warm-ish reviews. Disney was supposed to open ‘Bikeriders’ on December 1st, 2023. We were all wondering what date Focus would choose for Nichols’ latest.
Well, we’re going to have to wait another seven months before we can catch the film, as Focus has dated “The Bikeriders” for a June 21, 2024 launch. The film has an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes and 71 on Metacritic. I’ve personally heard mixed things about it, and it’s definitely not an awards player, but a new film from Nichols is always worth a look.
There’s also some more than decent commercial potential for this film, especially with a cast that includes Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Mike Faist.
