Greta Gerwig was asked by CBS about the possibility of a “Ken” spin-off movie and she basically opted for a “no comment”” approach. Read between the lines.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise since, back in July, I had reported that a “Ken” spinoff movie was in development at Warner Bros, with Ryan Gosling set to star. No director is currently attached on the project.
I’m actually surprised that no trade has picked up on this story yet — the ‘Ken’ project hasn’t really been much of a secret over at Warners. It’s happening. Gosling had actually signed on for it a few weeks before the theatrical release of “Barbie.”
Gosling is also a cinch to get an Oscar nomination, in the Supporting Actor category, for his work in “Barbie.” He was far and away the best thing about that movie.
