‘The Accountant’ Sequel, Starring Ben Affleck, to Shoot in March [Updated]

January 7, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: Looks like this one will start production in March. Spring 2025 release is being eyed by Warner Bros.

EARLIER: A sequel to “The Accountant” is officially a go, according to Daniel Richtman. Amazon will produce the film. Gavin O'Connor is directing again and Ben Affleck will reprise his role

Six years ago, Deadline reported that Affleck and O’Connor were in talks to return for “The Accountant 2.” Someone believed that it was a good idea to make a sequel to O'Connor's entertaining, but somewhat forgettable 2016 film. Will audiences even remember it?

I shouldn’t be complaining too much. I enjoyed the film for what it was: A light, breezy, and exceptionally well filmed action no-brainer. Affleck’s ‘John Wick,’ so to speak. The film did gross a decent $86M domestically.

If you remember, the film starred Affleck as a brilliant numbers guy with autism who happened to be an accountant for some of the world's biggest criminals. It also turned out that he had a special set of skills. He ends up getting closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, and that’s when the body count starts to rise.
