Kevin Spacey, as Frank Underwood, Interviewed by … Tucker Carlson?

December 24, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Kevin Spacey is known to gift the world with an annual Christmas video. This year, he’s given us a rather surprising one.

Tucker Carlson released what he calls a “Christmas Eve election surprise.” And, you guessed it, the surprise guest was Kevin Spacey, or rather Spacey as his “House of Cards” character Frank Underwood. (Via X)

Tucker introduced him as a dark horse who could jump into the 2024 presidential race and “rescramble the calculus of electoral politics.” During their chat, Spacey’s Underwood says that today’s D.C. climate badly needs some “adults in the room.”

“First, I think our country needs to stop apologizing and stiffen up,” the actor says. “We got so many running around with so many issues, like gun control — important issue — but let’s be honest, more people are killed by online trolls everyday.”

Spacey does break the fourth wall by discussing his 2017 Netflix firing due to sexual misconduct claims:

“It is bizarre that [Netflix] decided to publicly cut ties with me on allegations alone, allegations that have now been proven false,” “Underwood” said, alluding to Spacey’s recent wins in court.

Yea, this will probably be a better Christmas for the blacklisted actor. Spacey appears to have emerged from his legal troubles unscathed. This fall, he was acquitted in two separate cases.

Spacey is 64-years-old. Maybe he’s guilty of some of the charges that were thrown against him, or maybe he’s not. It’s really hard to tell, as sexual assault cases are sometimes very difficult to prove. One thing’s for sure, his reputation in Hollywood has been tarnished.

I still enjoy a lot of Spacey’s work. He was once, before being embroiled in these controversies, known as one of the great living actors. His career highlights include marquee roles in “American Beauty”, “The Usual Suspects”, “Se7en”, “Glengary Glen Ross”, “L.A. Confidential” and “The Negotiator”.

Now he’s starring in these micro-budget indies such as “Peter Five Eight” and “Control.” I doubt there’s currently a path for him to make a comeback in Hollywood.
