EARLIER: It does look as though “Wonka” might match or surpass its $39 million opening. The film had an incredible Monday, taking in close to $4 million in ticket sales. That’s more than the sum it made during Thursday previews. “Wonka” has, so far, grossed $152 million worldwide. It might turn into a major holiday hit.
The ‘Smile’ franchise has a new director. David Bruckner, who made “The Night House” and the 2022 “Hellraiser” reboot, has been hired to direct “Smile 3” for Paramount.
