This Variety piece regarding the “Aquaman 2” on-set drama is WILD.
We already know how this film has been plagued with reshoots, rewrites, multiple test screenings and different endings, but what we’ve learned today will only add fuel to the fire.
Some embarrassing documents from the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial have surfaced describing a hostile “Aquaman” set where an allegedly drunk Jason Momoa came on the set of the $215 million blockbuster dressed like Depp, as a way to taunt Heard.
Momoa also tried to get Heard out of the project. Ultimately, the studio didn’t fire Heard, but only because her former boyfriend, Elon Musk, had a litigator “threaten to burn the house down” if Heard didn’t get to return for the sequel. Warner Bros. caved and moved forward with Heard.
“Jason said he wanted me fired,” the notes say. “Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.”
A rep for Momoa released a statement claiming “he [wasn’t] dressing like Johnny Depp. He has always dressed in that bohemian style.”
Momoa’s rep might have a point here. It could be that Heard’s paranoia got the best of her and she mistakenly believed Momoa was trying to taunt her with his usual style of clothing.
