This movie is just getting the weirdest surge. We can add Kate Winslet as another “To Leslie” superfan. She’ll be hosting a post-screening Q&A of the film alongside director Michael Morris and actress Andrea Riseborough.
Why is a sudden “To Leslie” push occurring just now? Because Oscar voting began a few days ago. People like Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Sarah Paulson, Edward Norton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jamie Lee Curtis, Laura Dern, Demi Moore, Courteney Cox and Susan Sarandon have all gone out of their way in recent days to promote the film and, more specifically, its lead performance.
There have been past writeups about how, in an acting branch of around 1300, only 260 votes are needed for a nomination. I’ve counted around 54 actors who have gone out of their way to promote this movie in the last few days. Maybe they’re part of a cult? A secret group of people who amass to spread a message.
All I know is that some kind of blackmail is going on here.
