Luca Guadagnino’s Audrey Hepburn Biopic, Starring Rooney Mara, to Shoot Later This Year

January 3, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Rooney Mara was on Rain Phoenix's podcast today and said that her Audrey Hepburn biopic with Luca Guadagnino will be shooting “later this year.”

Last January, Apple had landed the Hepburn biopic Mara set to play the late legendary “Breakfast at Tiffany‘s” actress. Mara is also producing the feature project, which Michael Mitnick, the EP of HBO series Vinyl, is writing.

How many upcoming projects does Guadagnino have lined up? This is getting ridiculous. I’ve counted five.

He already completed “Challengers” which is set for release this summer. Set to shoot early this year is “Queer” starring Daniel Craig. Then there’s the “Scarface” remake which might use a screenplay penned by the Coen Brothers. Guadagnino has also mentioned a “Call Me By Your Name” being in the works.

Guadagnino released “Bones and All” this year — a hybrid of road movie, horror and romance that garnered good reviews. For my money, his best movie is still 2016’s Hitchcock riff “A Bigger Splash.” I’m also a big fan of his 2010 breakout “I Am Love.”
