Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’ and ‘Henry Sugar’ Will Feature Stop-Motion Animation Sequences

January 13, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

An Animation Scoop interview with legendary stop-motion Andy Gent has the maestro sharing details on re-teaming with Wes Anderson, he confirms both of Anderson’s 2023 films, “Asteroid City” The Wonderful Life of Henry Sugar,” will feature stop-motion animation.

Anderson has already made two full stop-motion films: 2009’s “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” and 2018’s “Isle of Dogs.” Stop-motion was also used for a specific sequence in “The Darjeeling Limited.”

We can most likely surmise that, with a June release date, “Asteroid City” will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. We’re not too sure about ‘Henry Sugar’ but its eyed fall launch could have it playing at Toronto/Telluride/Venice.
