Consider me shocked by India’s Oscar submission pick. They’ve decided to select “Last Film Show” as their official entry for Best International Film. I’ve never heard of that movie.
“RRR” has become a sensation in the US, with incredible numbers on Netflix and critical backing to boot. Why India would decide on the unknown “Last Film Show” is mind-boggling. They even had the backup option of picking the Cannes-Sundance critical Darling “All That Breathes” …
The only reasoning I can come up with is politics, pure and utter political selecting. It was just yesterday that Variety was predicting that “RRR” would garner at least two Oscar nomination, including one for International Film.
#RRRForOscars had even been trending on Twitter ahead of today’s big announcement with close to 18k tweets backing up the movement.
