‘The Son’ Teaser Released …

August 30, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: The trailer, more of a teaser, has been released.

It’s exactly what I expected. A flat looking but, potentially, immersive family drama.

You can kind of see what this will be all about. There’s none of the mind-bending parallel realities of “The Father.” This is a drama that will rely heavily on emotional gut punches. I’m perfectly fine with that, it’s definitely “Oscar-bait”. You can also now understand why some of the pickier fests (Telluride, NYFF) may have possibly passed up on it.

Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern star in Florian Zeller’s sophomore effort, after his triumphant Oscar-winning “The Father.” Adapted by Zeller from his own acclaimed stage play, “The Son” is being released in October.
