‘Amsterdam’ Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir Exits the Film

August 6, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: Searchlight has cleared things up for me. Hildur was hired pre-pandemic and the schedules didn’t work out after covid so Daniel composed the film. That's all there is to it.

Daniel Pemberton has been added as the composer for David O. Russell's upcoming "Amsterdam”. The film's original Hildur Guðnadóttir has apparently dropped out. No reason has been given for her departure.

Of course, people on social media are wondering if this has anything to do with the possible impending storm that’s about to hit Russell. Guðnadóttir does however have her scores for “Women Talking” and “TAR” coming up this fall.

Guðnadóttir has become one of the most sought-after composers in the industry. Hailing from Iceland, she’s a classically trained cellist who has played with the band Animal Collective and composed the score for “Joker.”

Russell’s “Amsterdam” is skipping the fall fests and opening this coming November. It’s a highly anticipated comeback for the filmmaker — his last film, “Joy,” was released seven years ago.
