Olivia Wilde’s ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ to World Premiere at Venice. Not Going to Telluride.

An impeccably solid source is telling me that Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” will be having its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival during the first week of September. However, the film is NOT going to Telluride.

Warner Bros. released the trailer for “auteur” Wilde’s film last month and the whole thing gave me weird vibes. Wilde is clearly going for social commentary in this sci-fi film. There’s definitely a “Stepford Wives” vibe going here as well.

Wilde raised some eyebrows at CinemaCon by comparing her film to “Inception”, “The Matrix” and “The Truman Show.” Talk about raising expectations. However, if you’ve read the screenplay, which has been on Hollywood’s famous blacklist for a few years now, then you “get” why she would compare “Don’t Worry Darling” to those films. I won’t say more.

Wilde is coming off her critically acclaimed debut “Booksmart”.
