Photos of Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan on the set of “Maestro” have leaked. The upcoming film is a biopic based on the life of Leonard Bernstein.
The makeup, prosthetics, whatever you want to call it, look really great. Cooper looks Bernstein’s age. Will the flashbacks recounting his younger days, meeting eventual wife Felicia, be shot in black and white? It’s quite possible given the stills that have been released.
Also, Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese are both producers for this one. Enough said.
In fact, Spielberg was originally supposed to direct the film only to pass on the mantle to protegé, and “A Star is Born” director, Bradley Cooper, who stepped in to direct. Netflix ensuingly landed the rights for the musical drama (per Variety).
The film is said to span over 30 years, telling the story of the marriage between Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre. Cooper has been working closely with the Bernstein estate over the past couple of years.
“Maestro” started production around a month ago and Netflix swears that it’s a 2023 release.
