Lars von Trier Has Edited ‘Kingdom Exodus’ Into A Feature-Length Film

April 26, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: Screen Daily is mentioning that Lars von Trier has edited together a film version of “Kingdom Exodus.” Where this film version pops up is anybody’s guess, but Venice is the obvious option.

According to Louise Vesth, of Zentropa, he wants “Kingdom Exodus” to screen at Venice. There had previously been rumors and rumblings of a possible Cannes midnight slot for Von Trier’s upcoming TV series, the third season of the apocalyptic show.

The cast this time around include Lars Mikkelsen, Nikolaj Lie-Kaas, Mikael Persbrandt, Alexander Skarsgård, David Dencik, Bodil Jørgensen, Ghita Nørby, Nicolas Bro, Søren Pilmark, Peter Mygind, Laura Christensen and Udo Kier.

“Kingdom Exodus” follows sleepwalker Karen (Bodil Jørgensen) who, one night, while sound asleep, wanders in the dark and finds herself inexplicably outside the hospital. She seeks to find answers to a never-ending set of unresolved questions.

“The Kingdom Exodus” will consist of 5 episodes of 60 minutes. I would guess the Film Version to clock in at around 3 hours.

Last we heard from Von Trier, he had premiered his underrated “The House That Jack Built” out of competition at Cannes in 2018.
