Rumor: Original Score Nominees Planning Oscars Boycott

February 24, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

Don’t piss off the composers.

That’s a lesson the Academy might be learning in the coming days as rumors swirl that the Original Score nominees are coming together to boycott the Oscars in protest.

Hey, they have nothing to lose. Their category has been relegated to pre-show awarding. This boycott means the likes of Nicholas Brittell, Hans Zimmer, and Johnny Greenwood would pass on attending the Oscars.

While we’re at it, how about the editors? Having BEST EDITING going to pre-ceremony must also constitute a slap in the face for them. The legends of this category are well known; Schoonmaker, Menkes, Tomasini, Kahn, Allen … They must be rolling in their graves.
