Guillermo del Toro Calls ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ a “Staggering Achievement”

November 24, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

Before we proceed, let me just mention that James Cameron once gave Guillermo del Toro a million dollars to pay the ransom after Mexican hoodlums kidnapped del Toro's father.

Okay, on with the show.

Producer Jon Landau confirmed today that “Avatar: The Way of Water” is officially in the can. James Cameron and his team completed the final mix and picture mastering last night.

This led to director Guillermo del Toro, who has apparently seen the film, calling Cameron’s sequel “a staggering achievement- AVATAR TWOW is chokefull of majestic Vistas and emotions at an epic, epic scale. A master at the peak of his powers…”

Ok, fine. But does it actually have a good story this time. The first “Avatar” was visually stunning, but its story was basically “Dances With Wolves” meets “Pocahontas.” I’m still very much looking forward to Cameron’s 192-minute sequel, and my sense of anticipation has been growing daily as the December 6th screening approaches.
