Lanthimos Starts Filming ‘AND,’ Which Means He Might Release Two Films in 2023

November 1, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

Filming has already begun on Yorgos Lanthimos’ “AND” in New Orleans, Louisiana. Production is dated to end in December.

Lanthimos, much like Wes Anderson, might be releasing two movies next year. “AND” is set to film until December, then Lanthimos will have 12 months of post-production to make sure it gets dated for 2023.

Lanthimos‘ follow-up to 2018’s “The Favourite,” “Poor Things,” is curiously still in post-production and will mostly likely be released next year. However, Lanthimos is already shooting “AND” which means he’ll have two projects ready by 2023.

Lanthimos will again team up with Searchlight Pictures for the fifth time with “AND.” Oddly enough, the film stars much of the same main cast as “Poor Things.

Plot details have been kept under wraps. However, it is being speculated that “AND”, co-written by Efthymis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of A Sacred Deer), will tell three separate stories; each letter representing a different tale.

Lanthimos mentioned the screenplay in a 2020 interview with Kelly Reichardt. It’s essentially an anthology film. The cast will include Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Jesse Plemons.

As for “Poor Things,” I broke the news during the summer that it was delayed until next year. I’m not sure exactly what the reason for that delay was.
