First Image of Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann’s ‘Ferrari’

October 7, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

A first image of Adam Driver in Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” has been released and there are definitely some major Mann vibes going on in this photo.

It’s been a long time coming, but production on Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” officially began in Italy this past July. Meanwhile, we finally know who the DP of the film is. It's none other than David Fincher regular Erik Messerschmidt.

Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley have hopped onboard Mann’s long-gestating passion project. The film will be set in the summer of 1957, during a time of immense distress for Ferrari. The company he built was going broke, at the same time, his marriage was crumbling after the death of their son.

Deadline had originally described “Ferrari” as having an almost “The Godfather” type feel. Driver is supposed to shoot Coppola’s “Megalopolis” in October, so he might be going straight to that one after completing Mann’s film.

Mann, who is turning 80 next year, hasn’t released a movie since 2015’s “Blackhat.” He’s one of the seminal and most influential American filmmakers with a filmography that includes “Heat,” “Collateral,” “The Insider,” “Thief,” and “Manhunter.”

So, how many A-list directors has Driver now worked with in his short, but staggeringly impressive career? Coppola, Scorsese, Coen, Eastwood, Baumbach, Spielberg, Abrams, Jarmusch, Nichols, Soderbergh, Scott, Abrams, Lee, Gilliam, and Carax …
