“Black Adam” is easily clearing $60M for the weekend will become The Rock's biggest non-“Fast and the Furious” opening ever. The reviews have been horrible for “Black Adam,” but audiences seem to be responding to it positively. A 90% RT audience rating, CinemaScore of B+ and 7.2 on IMDB.
The big news, however, is Bloody Disgusting’s ultra-independently financed TERRIFIER 2 seeing a 100% increase in its box office intake from last weekend. Horror keeps winning. It’s been the go-to genre for a vast amount of the moviegoing public this year.
“Terrifier 2,” which I’m finally watching tonight, made $2.1 million on its third weekend of release. It now has a total domestic gross of $5.4 million on a limp budget of $250,000. That truly is a remarkable feat.
The 140 minute sequel has based its marketing on people passing out, puking and crying in bathrooms during screenings. It might actually surpass “Halloween Ends” at the box-office on Halloween weekend.
Netflix and Skydance Animation have also called it quits. The two sides announced Monday that they're ending the animated film deal struck back in 2023, framing it as a mutual decision.
