91-Year-Old Clint Eastwood's ‘Cry Macho' Sets October 22nd Release Date

Clint Eastwood’s next movie, “Cry Macho,” has landed a release date from Warner Bros. this fall. It will open in theaters and on HBO Max — for the first month — on October 22, 2021. [via Deadline]

Eastwood has proven time and time again how he’s still a major attraction for moviegoers. “Richard Jewell,” “The Mule,” “Sully” and “American Sniper,” were all released within the last six years, with a considerable amount of tickets sold. It also helped that the films themselves were fantastic, straight-shooting dramas that could only be made by an old-school veteran of the craft such as Eastwood.

Now, much like every movie year, there is news that Le Clint, as they call him, is already set to release this fifth film in six years He is set to direct and star in “Cry Macho,” for Warner Bros. This would be his 37th film as a director. At 91 years of age, the man is a cinematic beast.

N. Richard Nash, who wrote the novel “Cry Macho”, penned the script along with Nick Schenk. Eastwood will also star in the film as a “onetime rodeo legend and now washed-up horse breeder. who, in 1978, takes a job from an ex-boss to bring the man’s young son home and away from his alcoholic mom. Crossing rural Mexico on their back way to Texas, the unlikely pair face an unexpectedly challenging journey, during which the world-weary horseman may find his own sense of redemption through teaching the boy what it means to be a man.”

2019’s “Richard Jewell” may not have lit up the box-office, but it proved to be a formidable statement from Eastwood. He’s built up a considerable fanbase for his twilight-phase movies over these last few years. His name is now synonymous and represents many values within this base, which includes plenty of conservatives, they will go see whatever movie he directs or stars in just purely based on his beliefs (“Gran Torino,” The 15:17 to Paris,” American Sniper,” “Sully”).
