Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s ‘Bigbug’ Being Released By Netflix … In February?

December 27, 2021 Jordan Ruimy

Yeah, this definitely looks like a Jean-Pierre Jeunet movie.

Academy Award-nominated “Amelie” and “A Very Long Engagement” filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet is back with his latest film, “Bigbug.” The artificial intelligence comedy is set to hit Netflix on … February 11?

After a few years of delays, we’re getting this semi-anticipated film during the time of the year when studios dump their middling films on clueless moviegoers? A very bad omen for “Bigbug.”

Although he’s most known for “Amelie,” Jeunet created his singular visual language with “Delicatessen” and “City of Lost Children” in the ’90s, not to mention his polarizing “Alien Resurrection,” which was the closest he ever came to Hollywood in 1997.

“Bigbug” has a group of bickering suburbanites find themselves stuck together when an android uprising causes their well intentioned household robots to lock them in for their own safety. Jeunet hasn’t made a feature since 2013’s misbegotten “The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet.” He seems a little lost these days.
