An upcoming film that was supposed to be an Oscar player is now turning into a very promising contender for multiple Razzie nominations. I’ve finally seen it; the acting is bland, the editing is scattershot, the tone is hysterically all over the place, and it plays like a bad soap opera. It’s a lifeless and ceaselessly nauseating experience. The only good thing about it, safe for a hilarious supporting turn, is how well photographed it is. A brutal watch.
Paul Greengrass’ "The Uprising," starring Andrew Garfield, opened to $3.2M from 2,068 theaters this weekend. Yikes. The budget hasn’t been disclosed, but is said to be in the $20-$30M range.
