‘Nightmare Alley’ Test Screens; Blanchett and Mara the Standouts, “Very Slimy and Dark Adaptation”

Guillermo del Toro’s “Nightmare Alley” is set to be released on December 17th. It’s one of the big five titles that remain to be seen this year alongside Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza,” Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up,” and, I guess, Ridley’s Scott’s “House of Gucci.”

All of this to say that “Nightmare Alley” was supposedly test-screened last night. This is, as far as I know, the first time it has been screened anywhere. A reader attended the showing last night, he swears he was there, and sent me an email reaction. Is this legitimate? You be the judge but it’s a very positive take on the film.

UPDATE: Due to the request of Searchlight Pictures, I’ve taken down the reaction.
