‘Run’: Director of ‘Searching’ Returns With Sarah Paulson Horror-Thriller [Trailer]

February 20, 2020 Jordan Ruimy

Sarah Paulson has, surprisingly, never lead a big studio movie until now. Mostly relegated to supporting turns during the course of her 20-year acting career, the immaculately talented Paulson has nevertheless shown greatness in minor but key roles in films such as “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” “Mud,” ‘12 Years A Slave,” and “Carol.”

Aneesh Chaganty’s “Run” has Paulson donning villainous shoes for a film which, judging by the trailer alone, looks well-shot. “Run” focuses on the story of Diane (Paulson) and her daughter Chloe (Kiera Allen). Confined to a wheelchair, Chloe is forced by mom to stay inside the house. refusing to let her leave. Over the course of the story, Chloe realizes her mother may be hiding something dark and insidious. In the recently-released trailer, we see Chloe trying to Google mom’s name but realizing that mom has blocked access to any searches of her name.

Chaganty is the writer and director of 2017’s excellent techno-thriller “Searching,” which had every single one of its scenes strictly contained within computer and phone screens. We'll be in luck if "Run” (5.8.20) even has half the imagination of that movie.
