‘Tenet’ Will Be Christopher Nolan’s Most Expensive Movie, Reported Budget of Nearly $250 Million

January 10, 2020 Jordan Ruimy

Collider’s Jeff Sneider is hearing that Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” will have a budget of over $200 million, making it the most expensive movie in the Nolan oeuvre. However, what Sneider and many others don’t

“Tenet'“ is currently being filmed on location across seven countries and is said to be “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.” The director of photography will be Nolan regular Hoyte van Hoytema.

Nolan practically gets carte-blanche every time he decides to make a movie. No other director in Hollywood has the power to just show up on the front steps of a big studio, tell them he wants hundreds of millions of dollars to bring an original vision to the screen and that complete artistic control must be granted to him. Name me another filmmaker that has that kind of power? There are not many, I could maybe count them in one hand.

“Tenet,” set for a Summer 2020 release, stars John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, Robert Pattinson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh and, of course, Nolan regular Michael Caine.
