‘The Aeronauts' Trailer: Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones Reunite for Balloon Epic

August 29, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are reuniting this fall for a film which marks their first venture together since they both nabbed Oscar nominations in 2014 for the Stephen Hawking biopic “The Theory of Everything.” If you remember, Redmayne even ended up winning the Best Actor statuette for his immaculate portrayal of Hawking.

Five years later, Redmayne and Jones are reuniting for “The Aeronauts,” from Amazon Studios and director Tom Harper (“Wild Rose”).

“The Aeronauts” tells the true story of scientist James Glaisher and wealthy young widow Amelia Wren’s 1862 balloon expedition to fly higher than anyone in history. It is set to premiere at the Telluride Film Festival and then screen again at the Toronto International Film Festival a few weeks later. Amazon will be releasing the film on Dec. 6, right in the heart of awards season. Watch the first trailer below.

In 1862, daredevil balloon pilot Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) teams up with pioneering meteorologist James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) to advance human knowledge of the weather and fly higher than anyone in history. While breaking records and advancing scientific discovery, their voyage to the very edge of existence helps the unlikely pair find their place in the world they have left far below them.
