Telluride Predictions [Updated: 8/14/19]

August 14, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

These are the best bets for the upcoming Telluride Film Festival. There are a few more narrative titles that I am missing, although I doubt any surprises will emerge, so don’t count on “Little Women” making an appearance. It seems like they do need a few more awards players, otherwise this could very well be the least awards-buzzed Telluride edition in recent memory. Missing this year’s lineup in favor of Toronto are “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “The Laundromat,” “Lucy in the Sky,” and “Joker.”

The full lineup of the 46th annual Telluride Film Festival will be announced on August 30th. The festival itself starts from August 31st until September 3rd.

Telluride Lineup So Far …

Ford v. Ferrari, The Two Popes, The Aeronauts, Uncut Gems, Judy, Motherless Brooklyn, Marriage Story, First Cow, Waves, The Climb, Pain and Glory, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Parasite, Varda by Agnes, The Report, A Hidden Life, Beanpole

Of note: I do want to acknowledge that, despite most of our sourcing coming directly in-house, Michael Patterson’s passionate and insightful early coverage leading up to the Telluride Film Festival has been nothing short of essential. Because of his intel and overall knowledge of the fest we have been able to add a few titles and possibilities (Country Music, Family Romance) .
