The late Agnès Varda, legendary nouvelle vague filmmaker (“Cleo From 5 to 7, “ “Vagabond,“ “Faces Places”) passed away just a few months ago, but managed to leave us with one final statement. Varda premiered her final film “Varda by Agnes” earlier this year at the Berlin Film Festival. She would end up passing away just a few weeks after the premiere. And yet, there is still no U.S. distributor for this final Varda statement. What gives? The film is set to premiere at Telluride, Toronto and New York — maybe that’ll wake some distributors up. The Cannes Film Festival honored Varda this year by having her appear front and center in their official poster.
