“The Lion King” pulled in an estimated $78.5 million on Friday, the film is on its way to a three-day performance of around $190 million. This is not even counting the $23 million from Thursday night previews. When all is said and done, Jon Favreau’s live-action adaptation of the 1994 animated classic may cross the billion dollar mark worldwide.
