The Philadelphia Film Critics Circle decided to hand out their Best Film award to Rian Johnson‘s “Knives Out,” a compulsively entertaining movie if there ever was one this year. This will likely be the only time “Knives Out” wins a Best Film critics prize since this win is such a far-out-of-left-field choice that I initially thought the Philly crix were trolling us with the news. I presume the Philly journos couldn’t decide on the Best Film winner and just went with the one film everyone “liked.” Fair enough.
Inspired by a true story, “Bucking Fastard” follows sisters Jean and Joan Holbrooke, played by Rooney and Kate Mara, in total sync, as they live by their own social and emotional standards and rules.
