Richard Linklater's last four triumphs: "Bernie," "Before Midnight," "Boyhood," and "Everybody Wants Some" have me revved up for "Last Flag Flying." This is supposed to be a spiritual successor to 1973's masterful "The Last Detail," which featured one of Jack Nicholson's very best performances.
Linklater has been a peculiar kind of director, a humanist that has kept reinventing himself throughout the last 25 years. "Last Flag Flying" will also be opening the New York Film Festival in October. There is no release date as of yet, but if the reviews are glowing you bet this will be released in the fall for awards season.

The New York Film Festival runs from September 28th to October 15th.
