After having had its its 2025 release date delayed to October 2, 2026, I’m hearing that Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” is only supposed to start shooting around February or March of 2025 in the U.K.

The headline over at The Film Stage is that David Robert Mitchell is “finally released from director’s jail”. The reason for this statement is that Mitchell just started production on his first film in over 6 years.

So, it turns out that Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie isn’t cheap. A source is telling Jeff Sneider that Warner Bros. greenlit PTA’s latest for the whopping cost of $175 million. The original reporting had it anywhere between $100-$125 million.

It works well as this menacing pastiche, but can’t quite stick the landing. That’s alright, taking place in a single location, with a budget rumored to be less than $2 million, the creative juices run freely in this film.

I’m hearing that the planned third season of Sam Levinson’s “Euphoria” has been totally scrapped. It’s not happening. They had plans to shoot it this summer, but they fell through.

That Screen Daily report from yesterday implying that Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” might “not be ready” for Cannes … I’m about to pour some cold water on it.

Variety’s Clayton Davis is reporting that “Joker 2: Folie à Deux” is a flat-out musical with 15 songs being covered throughout the film, and that’s not counting the “1 or 2 originals” recorded for the film.

The abominable “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” grossed $4.7 million in Thursday previews. This film is so bad, I still can’t grasp how the end result turned out this disastrously. Is it because Jason Reitman isn’t directing it?

Here’s one reaction. I spoke to this person last night, they were devastated by how bad the film turned out. I should mention that he’s a big ‘Beetlejuice’ fan and thought the sequel failed to deliver on the promise of the original:

Adam Sandler is, apparently, working on a sequel to his 1995 hit “Happy Gilmore,” according to Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in the original film.

The spinoff series, “The Penguin,” focuses on the crime villain Oswald Copplepot, aka The Penguin (played by Colin Farrell). The series is set after the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone.

As previously mentioned, I’ll be making this a monthly thing. I already tackled 2014 —1994, 1984 and 1974 are next. It’s always a fun exercise to hit the time capsule and today I’ll be tackling 2004.

The film was, supposedly, shown to Cannes boss Thierry Fremaux earlier in the year, but Coppola is still in post-production on it. All I’m saying that there must be much more to this story than meets the eye.

Michel Gondry is set to move into production next month (April 24) on the long-delayed “Atlantis,” which is a musical inspired by musician Pharrell Williams’ childhood.

Doug Liman won’t let it go. He’s angry at Amazon for dumping “Road House” on streaming. In a new interview, Liman says “Road House” was made for theaters and that Amazon has “given audiences the shaft.”

Well, after much delay, it’s finally here. Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice” has a trailer, actually, more of a teaser. We’ll see how this one goes since Burton hasn’t made a great film in almost two decades.

“Immaculate” is what one might call a gothic slow-burn. It’s all conspiratorial, meant to leave the viewer paranoid throughout — nuns whisper, priests give dirty looks. I, sadly, couldn’t take the bait.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars in the upcoming Sony/Marvel mashup “Kraven the Hunter,” so it’s puzzling to hear him slam Hollywood for rushing out mediocre IP content when he, in fact, stars in one those movies!

THR is reporting that A24 and Alex Garland’s “Civil War” is currently tracking with a strong $24 million opening weekend. That’s ahead of A24’s current all-time best first weekend, 2018’s “Hereditary” ($13.6M).
