Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘AND’ is Three Short Stories With the Same Actors Playing Different Roles in Each

March 2, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

I’m starting to wonder if we’ll be getting two Yorgos Lanthimos films this year, much like we’re supposedly getting a double from Wes Anderson.

That’s reason enough to celebrate since Lanthimos is the highly talented provocateur who gave us “Dogtooth” and “The Favourite,” among others.

It’s been five years since his last film, but Lanthimos wrapped filming “AND” in December. He also has “Poor Things” ready to go, probably as a world premiere at Cannes this summer.

Some footage of Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons on the set of ‘AND’ leaked online in December. It look d groovy. Plot details have been kept under wraps. However, it was speculated that “AND”, co-written by Efthymis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of A Sacred Deer), will tell three separate stories; each letter representing a different tale.

“AND” co-star Hong Chau was on a recent episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast where she revealed that the Lanthimos film consists of three separate stories where each actor plays a different role in each story.

I mean, how great is that? Especially with a cast that includes Emma Stone, Willem Defoe, Margaret Qualley, and Jesse Plemons. Ironically enough, all of the mentioned actors, except Plemons, are also in “Poor Things.”
