First Image of Daniel Craig in Greta Gerwig's ‘Narnia: The Magician's Nephew'

September 18, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

Here's our first look at Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew in Greta Gerwig's "The Magician's Nephew," which dropped via Empire.

Doesn't the production design look like something out of a Terry Gilliam film? Between yesterday's first-look image of Emma Mackey and the kids, and now this, it seems like Gerwig will really be embracing color in her adaptation of C.S. Lewis's classic book. Gerwig going maximalist and doing something unlike previous Narnia adaptations is the right way to go.

In the Empire chat, Craig says Andrew's intentions may not be good, but he isn't cruel or awful — just a man who gets overexcited about what could be and overlooks the consequences. Gerwig calls him the "stupidest magician in the world who actually made magic."

Meanwhile, the Bond detox continues unabated for Craig. He was in another Benoit Blanc movie last year, was magnificent in Luca Guadagnino's "Queer," and has a starring role in Damien Chazelle's prison-set film alongside Cillian Murphy, which is likely to come out next year.
