Marvel's X-Men reboot keeps stacking bodies. According to THR, Asa Germann — familiar to anyone who watched “Gen V” or sat through “Scream 7 “— is reportedly closing a deal to play Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel.
Kevin Feige's team apparently had Germann in the mix for Cyclops, lost him to Kit Connor, and liked him enough to hand him a different mutant instead. Marvel, as usual, isn't commenting.
The lineup is nearly full at this point. Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver stepping in as villain Mister Sinister. That's a lot of young talent and one very deliberate heavyweight, which tells you where the money's going.
Angel goes all the way back to the first X-Men issue in 1963, courtesy of Lee and Kirby — feathered wings, flight, the works, before Apocalypse eventually swapped them out for metal ones in a grimmer stretch of the comics. He's had two prior screen turns, neither of them memorable: Ben Foster in “The Last Stand,” Ben Hardy in ‘Apocalypse.’ Third time may finally be the charm.
