Seth Rogen Joins Bradley Cooper’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Prequel

An “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel is set to shoot next month, with Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, and Wagner Moura leading the cast. Cooper will also be directing.

Now here comes DanielRPK, who was the first to break Moura’s casting, reporting that Seth Rogen will be joining the cast in Monaco. He’d be best cast in the role of Reuben Tishkoff, originally played by the great Elliott Gould in Steven Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s” movies.

Remember, this is a prequel, simply titled “Oceans,” with Cooper and Robbie playing the parents of Danny Ocean, the character portrayed by George Clooney in Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s Eleven.” Moura portrays the villain of the story.

In the first film, Danny recruits Reuben because he’s a wealthy former casino owner who still has deep ties to Las Vegas and access to capital. Reuben agrees to bankroll Danny’s plan to rob the Bellagio, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand.

In Cooper’s prequel, the Oceans will teach their children—young Danny and Debbie (the latter originally played by Sandra Bullock)—the art of stealing from the rich. Set against the backdrop of the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, the project is described as a stylish, old-school caper inspired by Hitchcock’s “To Catch a Thief.”

Linus Sandgren (“La La Land,” “Saltburn,” “Babylon”) is the cinematographer on “Oceans.” This will be Cooper’s fourth directorial effort after “A Star Is Born,” “Maestro,” and “Is This Thing On?”

Rogen is coming off his turn in Olivia Wilde’s “The Invite” (good performance) and recently shot the second season of his acclaimed Apple series “The Studio.”
